Background

FHWA and a group of state departments of transportation from 9 of the 15 US facilities have proposed creation of a joint or pooled funded program to encourage coordination among the various facilities and provide resources and management for collaborative studies.

Objectives

The main objective of the CAPT Pooled Fund is to develop technical deliverables unique to APT facilities and to accelerate technology transfer among APT owners.

Scope of Work

· Organize and structure a program that identifies and produces key technical deliverables · Provide a means to define, support and share APT technology of mutual interest. · Develop a longer-range plan of collaboration (strategic plan), including potential cooperation with international community. · Provide for special studies, investigations, research and training.

Comments

Proposed minimum contribution: $25,000/State ($12,500 per year). Anticipated six States participating.
