Study Description
Objectives
To evaluate the interaction between culvert pipes, backfill envelopes, and in situ soil, and to develop recommended specification of installation of pipes to AASHTO standards.
Comments
The final report has been published as Pipe Interaction with the Backfill Envelope (FHWA-98-191). The report is available in PDF Format: Chapters 1-3, Chapter 4, Chapters 5-7, Appendix and Bibliography, The final draft of the proposed revisions to the LRFD Specification is being submitted and will be reviewed in-house, and then sent to the Culvert Research Advisory Committee for their review.
