Study Description
Objectives
To study, select, build, and test up to twelve lanes of newly constructed pavement. This multi-task, multi-level experiment can include one or more of the following technologies: 1) Modified asphalt binders in Superpave mixes; 2) pavements designed with the 2002 design guide; 3) measurements made with various falling weight deflectometers (FWDs); 4) crumb rubber modified asphalt pavements.
Comments
The Phase I workshop was held on November 7-8, 2001 at TFHRC in McLean, VA. Ten State highway agencies, industry, and academia were in attendance. As a result of this workshop, a follow up solicitation has been drafted and is waiting final approval. The follow up study will reconstruct all twelve lanes from the original study and then perform load testing as well as performing analysis of various asphalt binders. 2/14/02
