Study Description
Objectives
The objectives of the study are to develop an improved mechanistic subgrade failure criterion for pavements; to evaluate the effect of environment (seasonal variability) on resilient material properties, in particular, the effect of moisture content changes with time; and to integrate the study findings into improved mechanistic-empirical design methodologies for new and reconstructed flexible pavements. The study results will directly support NCHRP 1-37A, Development of the 2002 Guide for the Design of New and Rehabilitated Pavement Structures, and future improvements in pavement design.
Comments
Ongoing. The first two sections of pavement have been constructed and are being evaluated CRREL. An analysis report from CRREL will be forthcoming. (2/7/02)
