Objectives

A research study by the Oregon DOT developed a new rock fallout area design standard for 1/4 H:1v presplit slopes. Even though many states still use the Ritchie Criteria to size catchment areas, the Ritchie ditch shape is usually ignored as it presents a recovery zone hazard.
