Objectives

To provide core training for technicians, raise the knowledge level of those taking the training, and allow for reciprocity between States. Core training programs are being developed in the area of Soils and Aggregate Compaction, Aggregate Technician, Concrete Field Technician, Pavement Markings, Hot Mix Asphalt Field Technician, and Plant Technician Level I and Level II. Manuals will be knowledge based and free of any State Specifications.

Comments

All of the training manuals have been developed and are being used by some of the participating States in their certification programs. The development of the Administrative Policy and Procedures Manual of MARTCP and the Technician's Handbook is in rough draft. The Administrative Team has been in contact with the T2 Center in Maryland to discuss the possibility of T2 taking over the administrative functions of MARTCP. Estimated date for recommendation to Steering Committee is by January 2005.

Subjects: Materials and Construction Pavement Design, Management, and Performance Planning and Administration
